We recently sat down with Thrive of Fox Valley’s Director of Clinical and Safety Services, Tiana Ng, so our guests, family members and anyone inquiring about Thrive can get to know her a little bit better. Tiana holds one of the most important positions at Thrive as she ensures the safety and clinical success of our guests. Here’s what we asked…
Tell us about yourself and what is your role at Thrive.
I started my nursing career when I was just 16 years old. I started out as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), received my Licensed Practical Nurse’s license (LPN), and then eventually Registered Nurse’s (RN) license. I started my clinical management career in skilled nursing care as a restorative nurse, then an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and worked my way up to becoming a Director of Nursing.
At Thrive, I am the Director of Clinical and Safety Services and oversee all nursing care provided to each and every guest. I also lead the infection prevention team. My job is to educate and train our nursing team, including CNAs, on the daily role of clinical care. I want to help my crew to be the best they can be.
Why did you go into the nursing field?
The answer is plain and simple: I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
What are some of the common reasons why people need rehab?
Many of the common issues we see at our center are decreased strength and endurance, increased weakness, post-surgical care, infections, and exacerbations of chronic illnesses.
What advice do you have for patients when they come to rehab?
It’s important to take it one day at a time.
Tell us something most people don’t know about you?
This is a trick question because most people are aware of my obsession with the world of Disney. I am that Disney loving adult. Jasmine and Ariel are my favorite princesses. I even have a Disney princess named after me. I will sing my heart out to Disney songs with or without my kids in the car. Disney karaoke? Oh yes, sign me up! Do I cry at the fireworks at the end of the day at Magic Kingdom? MAYBE.
We’ll end this piece with the fact that Tiana is not only a strong leader, but heads a very capable team of CNAs, LPNs and RNs at our Thrive of Fox Valley center. We receive many positive testimonials from guests before they even walk out the door. Thank you again Tiana for being a part of our Thrive team!
